Moose Safari

Join this evening tour to meet the king of the Swedish forest, the mighty Moose. We have seen Moose on every tour and it is not uncommon to see as many as 10-20 Moose in one evening during the Summer season (May-September).

The Bergslagen forest is where you are most likely to encounter wild Moose in its natural habitat. During the tour you will get the chance to visit a Moose’s own home ground, a perfect environment to learn more about Moose and the other inhabitants of the forest in a practical way. Our guides share their skills of tracking as we search for hoof prints, fresh droppings and bite marks. We will also learn different ways of communicating with Moose, of which some have been used by hunters in the region for thousands of years. As the night falls the forest is brought to life and Moose awake from their daytime slumber to feed. This means prime time for Moose watching in the glades and meadows.

We travel together on foot and by van in small groups with skilled guides. During the tour we eat an evening meal together in the forest.

Itinerary

Meet up with your guide in the afternoon. The tour begins with an introduction to Sweden’s wildlife as well as practical guidelines on how to act to increase our chances to encounter wild animals. We transfer together by van to a nearby lake and eat an outdoor dinner in the forest. We then spend the evening walking and driving through the woods in search of Moose and other wildlife. After dark we conclude the tour and return to the starting point.
